October General Meeting Minutes 10/24/2018

posted Nov 6, 2018, 7:41 AM by North Tampa Arts League
Welcome:  Diane Harm welcomed all to the meeting.

We had an introduction from each of our members and news of each of their art sales, shows, etc.

Officers’ Report:

Secretary:  No changes

Treasurer:  Members:  41

Chairman Reports:

Plein Air:  Sally Yoder reported on the last Plein Air event which was held at the historic Dade City Courthouse and lunch at Limoges.   The next Plein Air will be held November 2nd at 9:30 am at Seaplane Basin Park, Tampa (Davis Island), and lunch at Farrell’s.

Diane had each of the members write down a couple of their favorite artist tips and then share with the group.  A very informative exercise.

Old Business:

Christmas Party December 19th:  Dotty Banker is the chairman for this year’s party.  Dotty passed a list around with suggestions for food items to be brought in by the members.  There also will be a gift exchange this year and door prizes.  Each member is allowed to bring one guest.

We still need a Chairman for our Membership Show to be held in April 2019.    We thought it may be easier and less of a challenge for two people to chair this show.   There are also open Board positions for VP Marketing and VP Events.

Show and Tell and Featured Artist:

We had several members participate in this quarter’s Show and Tell.    We had a tie this time for first place – congratulations to Diane Harm and Oliver Parson.

New Business:

Since our rummage sale was so successful, we want to bring back a past NTAL tradition.  We will have an Art Supplies Table setup at each meeting for members to buy/sell/trade their unused art supplies.  If you have something to sell/trade or give away another member just may be in need of that special item.

Diane will meet with the new Curator of the Carrollwood Culture Center on November 5, to discuss our membership show next April.

Our next Meeting will be held on November 29th the Thursday after Thanksgiving at LEC.  The theme will be “Painting and Wine”.   Alan Metzger will lead a painting class, subject of his choice, and everyone is asked to bring their own brushes, and wine - NTAL will furnish the canvases and paint.
