Plein Aire Events Resume in October

The “plein aire” craze is sweeping the art community. The North Tampa Arts League invites all artists working in pencil, pastel, charcoal, paint, sculpture, photography or other materials to join our monthly outdoor gatherings. Bring your choice of art medium and any other items you might need and enjoy the beauty of creating art outdoors. It is an opportunity to learn from others, develop new skills that can enhance artistic and creative techniques and last but not least, make new friends.

Each event location will offer a different subject or landscape perspective.  Some locations, such as parks, may have a modest entrance fee. Some venues will have a limited number of benches or tables but artists should plan accordingly if they require additional items.  Attendees are responsible for providing all of their own creative supplies along with bug spray, water, protection from sun, heat or cold, or any other items to assure a safe and comfortable outing.  Ride sharing is always a good idea.

Check the Friends of NTAL MeetUp calendar each month for future plein aire gatherings. Generally, we will meet at 9am for approximately 3 hours and we schedule a mix of weekday and weekend activities.

You may arrive and leave any time that is appropriate for you; often the weather dictates our activity. Feel free to arrive earlier to catch the morning light. Your suggestions for new locations are always appreciated. We will attempt to move locations around the Tampa Bay area in order to accommodate artists living in different areas.

These events are a benefit to all artists but we hope that non-members like the community and want to join NTAL. You can learn about all of the benefits of membership here
