Member News

First off, we welcomed Anna Granina to NTAL as our newest member. Before retiring, Anna had a career as a museum-quality fine art restorer. Now she has time to create original works of art.

NTAL Member Bob Clark is also a member of the Ybor Artist Colony. The gallery is hosting an open house this weekend. Located at 1521.5 E 7th Ave (on the 2nd floor), the gallery is normally only open by appointment. The 10 resident artists are hosting an open house this weekend. Friday, 5/30 from 6p-10p, Saturday, 5/31 from noon-8p and Sunday, 6/1 from noon-5p.

Please refer to for details.

At the door, we asked members to verify and complete their contact information, website info, etc. Please contact Virginia Butler with any updates.

Looking ahead to our next meetings...

  • June: Show & Tell
  • July: Guest speaker Noah Deledda. He works aluminum cans into visually exciting sculptures. His work has been covered by WEDU and he has a timelapse video that explains his creative process. Check it out at
  • August: Show & Tell
  • September: Member speaker Gainor Roberts on golden mean

Committee updates:

Our artwork at Grow Financial is not coming down on June 13th as originally planned. The show has been so popular that they have asked us to create a new show. So in the mean time, the existing art will remain on display until at least the end of June. Carol is looking for new 12"x12" art to hang there through September. Contact her if you are interested in participating.

Members continue to sell art from our Hunters Green display. Lynn Rattray and Dore Anderson are the co-chairs and will be coordinating the swap out of art in August.

We do not yet have anyone coordinating next year's month long springtime member show at Carrollwood Cultural Center. Please consider volunteering if you can coordinate this event.

On our 2 shared 9-panel projects, all panels are complete. David and Pat Beebe are  assembling the 2 panels into something that can be publicly displayed. Here is a quick peak at the Hong Kong Harbor panels with the reference photo above them while they are being mounted.

For our next project, Harv Berman is coordinating a member’s field trip to visit the Shriners Hospital at USF. Contact Harv if you are interested. The original suggested theme was toys but the hospital has an established underwater theme. We will be given rare access so we can see first hand what types of art would work best. The hospital is very excited and can take as many individual works as we are willing to donate. We are not hanging art for sale although I am sure an info card could hang with the art. NTAL is a non-profit social organization whose mission is to promote art in our community. This project is an excellent example of that commitment.
