ZENTANGLE with Miriam Zimms

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns using art pens and pencils. These patterns are called tangles. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in reaching a meditative state using repetitive patterns to draw beautiful, fun and stress-free art that increases focus, creativity, self-confidence and supports well-being. At the end of class, we assemble tiles to create a beautiful class Mosaic and appreciate each other as an artist.

Instructor: Miriam Zimms has been teaching the meditative art form in the Tampa Bay Community for 5 years and is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Her art is award-winning and has been exhibited at the Amalie Arena, Healing Arts Gallery/Moffitt Cancer Center, Gallery @2902/Jimmie B Keel Library, Glass Gallery/Brandon Regional Library, Kotler Art Gallery/John German Library and the medical office of Regenexx Tampa Bay. All materials will be provided and you can bring the tiles you make home.

Featured Artist Banner

Congratulations to artist Sally Yoder for winning the North Tampa Art League Featured Artist Award for the 2nd Quarter 2019!

Her winning entry is “First Catch”, watercolor on cold press Arches paper. “First Catch” was a surprise painting of a friend and fellow artist based on a black and white childhood photo.

Sally Yoder is an oi, acrylic and watercolor painter whose portraits, plein air works and boldly colored, large studio pieces offer surprising interpretations of the everyday ordinary. Having studied mostly oil painting classical realism, Sally "began to wonder why I'm copying great photos. So tight and no creativity! Through happenstance, I realized old, black and white photos lend themselves to creative interpretation. So I asked friends to send me fun, old pics I could try to paint. The watercolor of my friend, Deb, is a happy result of this practice."

Accolades include second place for a Myakka River watercolor at Zephyrhills Art Club's 2017 annual show; wins in many categories at the monthly Venice Art Experience; first place in oil and acrylic at NTAL's 2018 Annual show with a Hillsborough River scene, and Honorable Mention for a Rembrandt inspired self-portrait at NTAL's 2019 Show.

Sally co-owns the Million Souls Mine and recently added lapidary arts to her creative repertoire. For more information, please visit her at:
